3

i know it's cliche to say "wow, time flies!" or "can't believe he's already 3!" but really... it struck me when i was in the dr's office with jacob yesterday for his 3 year check-up, and Dr. P (jacob's pediatrician from birth and also friend of the family, who happened to be the person who told us about grace fellowship church, i digress) said to jacob something to the tune of "i remember checking you when you were brand new." and the more i thought about it when i was trying to fall asleep last night, it does seem like just yesterday that we were at the same office (Dr P) when i was 16 weeks pregnant with jacob, and we were trying to get an early guess at the gender on ultrasound. so... i'm just gonna say it...TIME FLIES!

so jacob is 3, if you didn't hear the announcement, or see his name on the birthday list this month at our local chick-fil-a.

we celebrated with friends this past weekend. jesse made a tractor cake for the occasion (per jacob's request). it was a fun, cold, evening with friends. :)

his birthday day was filled with lots of....sugar. a donut date with his friend in the morning, a trip to the playground at the mall (it was rainy and we couldnt go to the real playground), and a 25 cent deposit into the candy machine (conveniently located right next to the play area, smart guy who came up with that one), dinner at chick-fil-a after the dr's appointment, and cake and ice cream for dessert at home.

when jacob isn't playing with tractors, talking about tractors, or watching a tractor movie, he really loves riding his bike and scooter. he pretty much loves just about anything that has to do with the outdoors. more often than not, the first thing out of his mouth in the morning is "can we go outside?" he is starting to be very inquisitive. jesse and i feel like this is the beginning of the "why?" stage. not looking forward to that. he likes to color, and write on things, and is really good at puzzles. when he smiles, it is very contagious. he's 35 pounds and almost 40 inches tall, both in the higher percentiles for a 3 year old boy. doc says he is charting to be at least 6'1" at his adult height. he is completely potty trained (with an occasional accident that is usually mommy or daddy's fault). he LOVES his tractor underwear, obviously. the floor in our living room is most always covered with tractors and matchbox cars, which seem to be abundant in our house.

i am so thankful for this little boy. he is such a blessing to jesse and i. can't even imagine how boring our life would be without him. :o)

i love you jacob! HAPPY 3rd BIRTHDAY!!!
