kids remember everything

i used to have a pretty sharp memory. like remembering what shirt i wore on my first date with jesse, or what we ate on that date, or what he didn't eat because he was too nervous.

and then i had kids.

and now i forget to buy things at the grocery store that are written down on the list that i carry with me throughout the store.

but my kids remember everything. they have fresh, uncluttered minds, and it amazes me!

it was a pretty tragic event, when kate fell down the stairs with jackson last april, so i am not surprised that it sticks out in her memory. this morning she surprised me when she drew this, with no prompting:

"this is me crying when i fell down the stairs."

just came across this picture from the beginning of this past fall. oh how it makes me smile.
